12 on the 12th: January

Let's try this again, shall we?
Blog, welcome back 12 on the 12th.
Try to do better than last year, m'kay?

January: 12 on the 12th

one // Last night I was just too tired and too grumpy to clean the kitchen. I left the sink full of dishes, the counter covered in papers, and even left our dinner out [uh, gross]. This morning I woke up to a sparkly clean kitchen. That husband of mine...I just love him. [and while we are on topic, take a peek at our "before remodel" kitchen here]

two // Jake's parents came today to pick up their four wheeler we borrowed several months ago. Jake couldn't help but take it on one last joyride [a.k.a the ever exciting snow removal].

three // Jake's sweet parents treated us to lunch. Just don't mind that I forgot to take a picture myself so I totally stole one off the internet.  That's what I call improvising.

four // I have been telling Jake for the last few months that I wished the Book of Mormon was set up more like a novel. The English nerd in me thinks it would be easier for me to read. Today Jake bought me one of the original Book of Mormon look-a-likes. It reads just like a novel [you know...no versus, just chapters]. Can't wait to trick my mind into reading more [it will work...I think].

five // Tomorrow is my first official day in my new calling in our ward. Can't wait to teach those cute little five-year-olds. You know you love my yellow construction paper crowns...

six // My new favorite pass time, you ask? Facetiming with my cute eleven-year-old little sister [Happy Birthday Rie].

seven // 5 days and thirteen dollars in late fees later, we returned our rented movies. Whoops.

eight // All the supplies a new primary teacher needs. You know...construction paper, crayons, chalk, glue sticks, and of course M&M's. I gotta keep those little kiddos sufficiently busy and easily bribed [thus, the M&M's].

nine // Today is Maycie Laine's one month birthday! To celebrate, Jake took me to Sonic to relive my biggest pregnancy craving. I am sure little Miss M appreciated it even up in heaven.

ten // I have been busy writing thank you cards for all those who supported us after Maycie passed. I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of support we received.

Just as small side note -- My sisters surprised us with a donation fund set up on our behalf. Unfortunately, we do not receive the names of those who donated. So, if any of you out there contributed to this account, please please PLEASE know we are so appreciative and wish we could personally thank each and every one of you.  And I would LOVE to thank you myself...so SPILL! If you contributed, let me know. I really would feel better about the whole thing if I could personally thank you.

eleven // Our night consisted of football [blah]. Don't worry...I kept myself busy on Pinterest.

twelve // Turns out my pre-pregnancy clothes are not even close to fitting my post-pregnancy body. And I don't think my new job [yep ... I start on Monday - details later] would appreciate me wearing my sweatpants to work every day. Cue excuse for a day of thrifting!

12 on the 12th: May

So I am a little late. Whatev.

one: My new favorite morning treat. Even better? I bought myself a Magic Bullet. Now I can take my smoothie with me to work right in the blender. Saweet.

two: Morning smoothie plus a little "me time". Every year after finals I have a tradition of reading all of the Harry Potter books. Yep, I admit it. I am a nerd.

three: How can you read the books without watching the movies too?

four: So I admit, I didn't take this picture in hopes of debuting it on my 12 on the 12th. I actually bought a new skirt so I took a picture to send to Jake at work for his approval. And then I realized I only took 11 pictures to be on my 12 on the 12th. So it made the cut.

five: Driving home.

six: Got a call from my favorite high school friend on the way to Malta. Love her!

seven: And the reason for my visit home. I made a quick stop at an old friends wedding reception. She looked beautiful!

eight: I made my Mother promise we could eat at Taco B if we went to the reception. This is one of the top things I miss about living in Malta.

nine: A little "Sister and Me" time.

ten: Almost home!

eleven: Ah, home sweet home.

twelve: This is why I need to have a kid! I said "Zayne take off my shoes for me." And guess what? HE DID!

12 on the 12th: March

Hi guys. It's that time of month again. You know, 12 on the 12th. Or the 13th. Or 14th. Whatev.
I have been feeling a little gloomy lately. Maybe it's the fact that I want the warm weather of summer to be here. Now. Instead, we get rain. Bummer. But, in honor of my gloominess, today's pictures are black and white.

[01]  My last midterm assignment. 10 pages on the Appalachian English Dialect. Don't worry, I printed extra copies just in case you are interested in reading it.

[02]  Remember last month when I changed my name? Bad move guys, bad move. I no longer exist according to my professors. It has been such a headache but I finally fixed all my classes before my midterms EXCEPT for my Children's Lit class. Instead, I got a big FAT X. No bueno.

[03]  I lost my name tag around the first of the year. I finally found it in the VERY back of my closet still pinned to a shirt I never wear. I am glad to have my title back!

[04]  Work has been slightly stressful lately. One employee quit on a minutes notice and two others have given their two weeks. The only thing that gets me through the day is rocking out to my favorite Pandora station.

[05]  My desk at the end of my work day. Lately I have been sneaking back in after classes to finish up the excess. "2 A Days" of work aren't the funnest, let me tell ya.

[06]  Not going to bore you with the details, but imagine 10 more pages of this. Then imagine having to redo all of the information. For the second time. Argh. Good thing I love my job!

[07]  On our honeymoon, Jake and I ate at this fun little Greek restaurant right on the beach at Coronado Island. I loved it. Loved it! I crave Greek food just because of this restaurant. Today I ate a gyro at the Brass Rail Steakhouse in the hotel I work in. DELISH! Took me back to my honeymoon. [What? So what if I did just put a shameless plug in for the hotel? It's my blog.]

[08]  I told you, what a gloomy day!

[09] I have had my iPhone for about 9 months now and I BARELY found the zoom button on the camera. Goodness, that thing was elusive!

[10]  I met Jake for dinner on his break from work today. He sure knows how to make my gloomy day just a little brighter. P.S. I am not loving the effect weird picture scaling has on my face. Not loving it at all.

[11]  My sister Jessica sent me a text a while back saying that I should watch Downton Abbey. I brushed it off until one late night boredom strike hit. LOVE IT!! I wont tell you when I started watching it but tonight I will finish the final episode.

[12]  So...my husband might be just a little baby hungry. Or maybe just a lot baby hungry. Either way, his wife is not. So to push of the pressure a bit I told him we had to meet every goal on my "Little Baby Bucket List". The list keeps getting bigger and bigger...

12 on the 12th: January

Kim invited, so I said yes. Bear in mind she is a much better photographer than me. Plus, what with my camera being temporarily out of commission, my phone had to fill in the blanks.

Blog, let me introduce you to 12 on the 12th. 12 on the 12th, meet blog. You guys are going to be great friends.

{01} An early morning reminder text from the sis. How did I do Kimmy?
{02} LA 273 was the first classroom I had as a freshman. It is now one of the last I have as a senior. Added bonus? Same professor. Ah, the memories.
{03} My Business Communications class quiz of the day. What is a noun? Seriously?
{04} Children and Young Adult Literature. Favorite class by far!
{05} Campus. Oh how I loathe thee.
{06} Driving to work, putting on my make up, and taking a picture. Talent.
{07} My name is Katie and I am a recovering Mountain Dew addict. Crystal Light is my nicotine patch.
{08} Newest purchase from Goodwill. $4.75 for my purse turned backpack? I think so!
{09} It was a “pen in the hair” kind of day at work.
{10} My little corner of the world at Clarion Inn.
{11} My new phone covers finally arrived. Yay me!
{12} Four days into school and my house is really feeling the neglect.

Want to join in on the fun?  My sister invited me, and I will invite you.  Let's have a 12 on the 12th party!
P.S. It's contagious. Proof here and here
